Principles of Transparency in SiS
Established at the board meeting 27. February 2019
1. Purpose
SiS is an organization that practices transparency with the purpose of facilitating student involvement in matters concerning student welfare.
Transparency and involvement do not apply in cases that are in conflict with the current duty of confidentiality, classified as sensitive, disputes, employment, personell matters, procurements, negotiations or institutional conditions.
2. The Welfare Council – top democratically elected student organ
In cooperation agreement with the Welfare Council, they are in consultation to the board in SiS the following cases:
– Annual vision, purpose and budget
– Issues that matter for student welfare
– Change of semester fee
– Disposition of semester fee, including guidelines for the allocation of welfare funds, health compensation and grants for individual events
If it is delayed due to time pressure, the Welfare Council Executive Committee is to be contacted and given the opportunity to deliver a statement on behalf of the Welfare Council.
The Welfare Council Executive Committee will be informed about the SiS board's cases. The procedure involves cases. Case presentations that are not confidential or sensitive will be sent to the Executive Committee at the same time as they are sent to the SiS board. The Executive Committee has duty of confidentiality.
The Welfare Council Executive Committee can contact the administration to clarify questions about SiS, cases sent for consultation etc.
3. All students and others
Cases that are sent to the Welfare Council for consultation will be posted on SiS' websites to give all students the opportunity to be heard. The consultations will be informed on Facebook and other social medias.
The board's meeting schedule and protocolls (when set by the board the following board meeting), and the board's report and account will be published on SiS' website. Vision, purpose and budget will be published on SiS' website when the case is sent for consultation. Every case that does not conflict with the current duty of confidentiality, classifies as sensitive, disputes, employment, personell matters, procurements, negotiations or institutional conditions will be published on SiS' website. This includes student surveys.
All students and student organizations are welcome to meet the board before the assembly (board meeting). They will be given the opportunity to raise cases, have a saying about cases and SiS, or bring up an inquiry of their choosing.
The board's leader and administration are available for all students and others, and will answer inquiries.
