The Application Process

SiS has a total of 1,693 rooms and apartments in 13 residential areas. You will find homes for singles, couples and families - both in Stavanger and Sandnes.

Remember to apply for housing before the 20th of April, even if you have not yet been offered a study place. In the application portal you will find an overview of all our homes.

It will always be a good idea to enter the maximum number of housing requests(3). Then you have a greater opportunity to get an offer.

How to Apply

Who can apply for SiS housing?

You must be a full-time student at one of our affiliated schools to apply for housing with SiS.

Families with children are given priority when allocating family apartments. There is no requirement that both parents must be students to be allocated an apartment, but the applicant must be a student.

Couples without children are given priority when allocating two-room apartments. There is no requirement that both must be students to be allocated an apartment, but the applicant must be a student.

If you need custom housing you can contact us. The application must be documented with a doctor's note.
Doctoral students are employed by the institution, and can therefore not apply for housing through SiS.

Prices
Everything is included in the rent, both electricity, internet and laundry. This means that you will not get any unpleasant surprises. The homes are adapted to your finances, and give you a safe living and rental relationship.

Main Admission
The application deadline for the main allocation of housing is 20 April. This award is a lottery where first-year students are given priority. Families with children are given priority when allocating family apartments.

Couples without children are given priority when allocating two-room apartments. Read more on the page Allocation.
Accepting and signing the contract
The deadline is 3 days after the award of the housing contract.
Cancelling the housing contract
Have you been allocated housing after the main admission, and signed the contract for this, but still want to cancel the contract? Then you have to do it before July 22nd. If the contract is not cancelled, you must pay rent for 2 months.

After adding more homes to your cart, you can compare these with each other. It will always be a good idea to apply for the maximum number of housing requests (3). Then you have a greater opportunity to get an offer.

When you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation that the application has been received by us. You can choose to receive this as an email, text message or push notification in the app. You will also be notified if important information is available, such as that you must renew your application or that you will receive a new offer of a contract.
Documentation
If you have documents to attach to your application, you can send these to us by e-mail. This can, for example, be documentation that you are disabled, or a doctor's statement with significance for your living conditions.

If you have applied for housing, you are in the draw. If you are allocated a home, you have seven days to sign the contract.
First-year students are prioritized in the main award from April 20 to July 22
Families with children are given priority when allocating family apartments.

Couples without children are given priority when allocating two-room apartments.

Award the rest of the year, except for the main award: First come, first served.

If you are on the waiting list (during the procedure), you will receive an answer if you receive housing on an ongoing basis. You will receive answers by e-mail, text message or on My Home's pages.
Make sure to refresh your application every month to keep your application active.

Where do I find my contract?
You will find your contract at Min Side in Uni Alltid when available.
How do I sign my contract?
You can choose to use Bank ID to sign(for norwegian students only). If not, you can print out the contract and sign it. Then take a readable picture of the entire contract and upload it to My Page in Uni Always.
How do I cancel my contract?
You can choose to cancel your contract at Min Side i Uni Alltid. If you have been allocated housing after the main admission and signed the contract for this, you must cancel the contract before 22 July. If the contract is not cancelled, you must pay rent for 2 months.
Moving In
Moving In
When the lease is signed you will be notified when move-in day is approaching.
You will be contacted by us after you have signed your contract. We will then give you information about the key collection, opening hours and other matters that are relevant to your future living situation.
Taking over
The home can be taken over at 12:00 on the day of moving in.
Rent
SiS housing does not have a deposit. The first rent is due after moving in, and the invoice can be picked up from My page on the Housing Portal at the beginning of each month. Note that in August and January, invoices may arrive somewhat later. The invoice is due on the 20th of the same month.
Furniture
Furniture varies from home to home. Check your housing in the application portal Uni Alltid.
Animals
Pets are not allowed in SiS' apartments.
Insurance
You must provide home and contents insurance yourself. SiS has only insured the properties.
Internet
There is free internet in all our homes. All you need is a wireless router or a network cable that can be purchased from SiS bok.
Housing benefit
If you have children, you can apply for housing benefits from Husbanken.

If you are on the waiting list, you will receive an answer if you get housing continuously as there are vacant homes.

Make sure to refresh your contract every month, you will be notified on your page in SiS when you need to do this.
