Active Brain Break

Physical activity isn’t just about a strong body – it also boosts your memory, ability to learn, and mood. That’s why we’re inviting you to a feel-good workout session that ends with a nutritious meal at the Book Café in the SiS student house. 🥙

You get this:

🚴 12:30–13:10:Energizing workout focusing on heart rate – you control the intensity yourself.

🧘‍♀️ 13:20–14:00:A calm session with breathing and movement to reduce stress and increase body awareness.

🍽️ 14:00–15:00:Free lunch and social gathering in the Book Café (for participants in one of the sessions).

Practical information:

🔥 Active Brain Break comes in 3 different formats: spinning, tabata, and a calm session focusing on breathing and movement, as well as an outdoor circuit training option. Choose the one that suits you best, or try all 3.

🥳 The offer is free and open to all students, regardless of membership at SiS sports center.

🙌 You can join one or both training sessions.

🛎️ Meet at the reception at SiS Sports Center – say that you are there to take part in Active Brain Break.

🕛 Remember to arrive at least 10 minutes before the start.

How pulse training strengthens the brain:

  1. Increased blood flow to the brain:When your heart rate rises, the heart pumps more blood – and therefore more oxygen and nutrients – to the brain. This can help improve memory, concentration, and problem-solving.
  2. Stimulation of neuroplasticity: Interval training promotes the production of BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor), a protein that strengthens the connections between brain cells and promotes the formation of new nerve cells. This is crucial for learning and memory.
  3. Reduction of stress and anxiety:Exercise lowers levels of the stress hormone cortisol and increases the production of endorphins and serotonin – which leads to a better mood and improved mental balance. This makes it easier to concentrate and perform well in study situations.
  4. Better sleep quality:Regular pulse training contributes to deeper and more stable sleep.
  5. Improved executive function: This is about the ability to plan, organize, control impulses, and make decisions – skills that are absolutely essential in everyday student life.

Stimulation of neuroplasticity: Moderate to high-intensity training (HIIT) promotes the production of BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor), a protein that strengthens the connections between brain cells and supports the formation of new nerve cells. This is crucial for learning and memory. Reduction of stress and anxiety: Regular exercise leads to an increase in the calming substance GABA, reduces levels of the stress hormone cortisol, and boosts the production of endorphins and serotonin – which improve mood and mental balance. This makes it easier to focus and perform in study situations. Better sleep quality: Regular cardio training contributes to deeper and more stable sleep. Improved self-regulation functions: This refers to the ability to plan, organize, control impulses, and make decisions – skills that are absolutely central to everyday student life.
