Akathist reading

Join us for an Orthodox Christian Akathist at UiS!

‎On September 25 at 6:00 p.m., in the Room for Faith and Reflection, we will read the Akathist to Saint Nectarios of Aegina. He was born in Greece in the 1840s, founded the Monastery of the Holy Trinity (Ierá Moní Agías Triádos), and wrote the hymn Agni Parthene (O Pure Virgin).

‎The film about his life is titled Man of God.
‎
‎Not sure what an Akathist is? Come anyway! An Akathist is a hymn dedicated to a saint, an event, or one of the persons of the Trinity.
‎
‎After the Akathist reading, light refreshments will be served.
‎
‎Father Vasilii Petrov will also join us and contribute, and he will be happy to answer questions. He is the priest serving the Saint Irene parish at Line Prayer House in Bryne.
