Brede Hangeland on Field Notes from the FIFA World Cup: 47 Days on the Inside
Brede Hangeland is one of Norway’s most prominent football players of all time. He is now the national team’s player liaison. During this summer’s FIFA World Cup, he wrote the book Field Notes from the World Cup: 47 Days on the Inside.
Meet him in conversation with Aslak Sire Myhre.
Brede Hangeland is one of Norway’s most prominent footballers of all time. As captain of the Norwegian national team, a Viking player and a long-serving Premier League player, he has experienced football at the very highest level. He is now the national team’s player liaison and part of its inner circle, where decisions are made, problems must be solved and performance levels must be shaped.
With no ambition other than to capture his impressions of the FIFA World Cup, he begins keeping a diary. For 47 consecutive days, he writes from his hotel bed, on the team bus, and aboard flights between matches. There are highs and lows, ordinary days and unforgettable moments, the support staff working behind the scenes, and players performing at a level we have never seen before. This is Norwegian sporting history told from a height of 196 centimetres.
Welcome to an evening celebrating the summer we can't get over!
The conversation with Brede Hangeland will be moderated by Aslak Sira Myhre.
After the event, there will be an opportunity to purchase the book and have it signed.
