Do you know what to say when someone is going through a difficult time?
Would you like to work closely with people? Perhaps you are studying psychology, nursing, child welfare, or paramedicine—or envision a future in HR and management?
Wherever you interact with people, you will encounter conversations that do not always have easy answers.
K-SOS invites you to a short, informal introduction to what it is like to volunteer for a crisis support service. As a volunteer, you will meet people in a wide range of life situations. They may be dealing with loneliness, grief, relationship difficulties, life’s challenges both big and small, or acute and long-term crises.
Here, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful conversations while developing your own communication skills, including active listening, validation, and boundary-setting.
What do you say when someone cries? When a friend tells you that life feels too hard to live? What do you do when you do not know what to say?
Drop by, have some pizza, and learn more about what you can gain, how you can contribute, and what volunteering is really like.
