Kristian Kristensen has made his mark on the Norwegian pop scene for over a decade with his extraordinary vocal range and emotional power. With timeless hits such as “Kan du lære mæ” and “Du ga mæ viljestyrke,” as well as sold-out concert venues across the country, he has cemented his position as one of Norway’s greatest performers.
Still, the artist felt a need to escape their familiar “Norwegian self.” The solution was a five-week stay in Los Angeles, driven by a desire to explore a new linguistic and musical landscape.
By setting aside the large-scale productions and limiting himself to just an acoustic guitar, Kristensen found a new approach to songwriting.
“By limiting myself to just one instrument, I found a new kind of freedom. It was about getting back to the essence of communication,” says Kristensen.
Inspired by artists such as Adrianne Lenker and Bon Iver, he has embraced an organic and intimate sound. Many of the new lyrics emerged after hours spent on a balcony in LA, where he switched from Norwegian to English to explore new nuances in his vocal delivery.
Audiences can look forward to seeing an artist who both honors their musical legacy and is now hitting the road with a combination of their biggest Norwegian hits and brand-new English-language material.
