Op-ed writing course for students at UiS
Learn how to write an op-ed and get it published.
This course is for anyone who wants to take part in public debate or draw more attention to their research.
The library’s events coordinator and former debate journalist at the newspaper Vårt Land, David Sviland, shares his best tips and provides feedback on your op-ed idea.
Where: Kjølv Egelands hus, KE A-253 (map)
The course has two parts. The first 45 minutes consist of a lecture, while during the final half hour we will go around the group and discuss what each participant might like to write an op-ed about. Please therefore prepare a brief pitch.
What you will learn:
What editors look for in an op-ed
How to find a compelling angle
How to use facts, language and style to strengthen your message
What happens once your op-ed is out in the world
