Trouser Workshop: Learn How to Hem Trousers
Those of us with shorter legs often find that our trousers are far too long. But you don’t want to lose the original stonewashed hem on your jeans or end up with visible stitching on your dress trousers—so what’s the solution?
In this practical sewing workshop, you’ll learn how to shorten trousers using simple techniques for a professional finish.
We’ll work with both dress trousers and jeans, exploring different techniques, including invisible hems for smarter trousers and methods that preserve the original hem.
You’ll learn how to measure, pin, prepare and press your hems, adjusting your trousers to the perfect length.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to hem your own trousers, saving both time and money on simple alterations.
Bring a pair of trousers you’d like to shorten. Thread, sewing machines and other sewing supplies will be available for you to use at Verkstedet. You’re also welcome to bring your own sewing machine if you prefer.
The workshop is suitable for both beginners and those who already know how to use a sewing machine.
