Young Researchers' Night: Do you trust?

The Young Academy of Norway once again invites you to Young Researchers Night in Stavanger, this time at Litteraturhuset i Stavanger, as part of the national science festival, Forskningsdagene 2026.

Trust in research and research-based knowledge is crucial to a well-functioning society, especially in times marked by global unrest, rapid technological change, and growing threats to academic freedom. At the same time, research-based perspectives are increasingly being challenged by a rising tide of information, disinformation, and polarization. In such times, it is important not only to demonstrate how research contributes to critical thinking and informed public debate, but also to discuss its foundation: trust.

During the evening, we will explore what trust is, how it is built and maintained, and what happens when it is broken. We will discuss the role of research and the position of early-career researchers, and invite you to explore how we can build trust in one another.
