"Det Annet Kjønn - Kollektiv (DAK)" is a musician and composer collective, which works to promote female and non-binary performers and composers. The collective's vision is to get more women on Norwegian and international concert stages, and thus a more equal cultural life.

At AKKS's workshop, March 6th at Metropolis, a small group from "Det Annet Kjønn- kollektiv" will teach “Blue Nile” by Alice Coltane - first we will listen, then learn by ear and then play it on the instruments. Finally, we will together create our own interpretations of the song and play them for and/or with each other.

DAK has seasonal projects, in previous seasons the choice has been free between composition, songwriting and arranging. In the season 23/24 we started the project “New Standards 101” - Keep an eye on your Jazz women! which we will develop further in 24/25. The project is based on the book "New Standards - 101 Lead Sheets by Women Composers" (2021) by Terri Lyne Carrington. This book is a reference work for jazz standards composed by female jazz musicians.

The spring Stavanger concert takes place on March 22 in the Great Hall at Folken. Here we emphasize our own interpretations with a current, modern and political expression. This year it is possible for anyone who wants to take the trip, as we have arranged an U18 area in the gallery!
