Helene Austbø is the founder of Happy Hikers and Blizbi. She started Happy Hikers in 2021 as a small family business with the goal of making it easier for people to get outdoors. Through inspiration, knowledge sharing, and quality equipment, the project grew from a hobby into a nationwide brand with million-level revenue and a strong community built around joyful outdoor living.
Building on that experience, she is now developing Blizbi – a digital platform and infrastructure for activities, events, and experiences. The platform is designed as a personal activity assistant for users, and as a visibility and insight tool for providers in the experience industry.
Helene has over 12 years of experience as a pedagogical leader in kindergarten, as well as a background as an environmental therapist for youth. She is particularly passionate about social sustainability, mental health, and how technology can contribute to creating belonging, activity, and meaningful everyday experiences.
In her talk, Helene will share her journey from idea to startup—and further into building companies in practice. She will cover topics such as:
- How a simple idea can develop into an actual business
- Experiences from building Happy Hikers from the ground up
- The transition from e-commerce to tech and the development of Blizbi
- What it is really like to be an entrepreneur—with both highs and challenges
