ION Racing UiS

ION racing UiS is the university's very own racing organization! We are a non-profit student organization with over 60 active members who participate in Europe's biggest engineering competition Formula Student. ION Racing is one of the biggest student organizations at the University of Stavanger, and every year the members spend thousands of volunteer hours conseptualizing, designing and producing an electric formula spec racing vehicle for Europe's biggest engineering contest. ION is meant to be an environment where new ideas and innovations get promoted. Each year, we set things up in the same way a real company would establish an actual project. During the concept phase from August to October, we encourage the development of new and exciting ideas on how the project can continually improve. We maintain a mentality that everyone should be heard, which is one of the things that strongly binds the team together and encourages many to continue with ION throughout their degree. We place a strong focus on competence development in all relevant fields of study. We have students from various disciplines, including psychology, political science, early childhood education, digital service management, and economics, as well as nearly all engineering programs at both bachelor’s and master’s levels.
