SiS-huset – together we'll strengthen the student city of Stavanger

👩‍🎓🧑‍🎓 It's high time we showcase ourselves as a proper student city and establish a house for student welfare and activities, like the other major cities in the country. This is actually so important to our students that they haven't just been saving for this through the SiS board for years, but they choose to invest in a better future for the students to come.

And we're already well underway!

🛠️ On April 11th, we celebrated the topping-out ceremony SiS-huset, and it's scheduled to be completed in November 2024.

🧐 But what will be happening in SiS-huset? Listen:

• There will be student activities around the clock. The plan isn't nine-to-five, but 24/7. An ENTIRE floor is earmarked for new, large common areas for students. Here, you will have space for both studying and socializing.
• A much larger sports center, with a climbing wall that can accommodate six times as many students as today.
• Health services for students. Including counseling services, a school nurse, and dentists.
• Bokkaféen is moving from Kjølv Egelands House to SiS-huset, with an extended menu.

🥳 Did we mention that we've hired an events coordinator who will solely focus on creating buzz and activity in the building?

🤝 And it's not just the students who will have space in SiS-huset: Continuing and further education (EVU) at UiS will move in, providing an excellent opportunity to ensure that students and the business community can connect!

💪 Students themselves say they have little knowledge of the opportunities available in our area, and we can do something about that. In collaboration with the business community, we will flip that statistic and truly ensure that the expertise students possess reaches where it's needed!
