Panel talk on Iran.
When the Iranian people took to the streets, the authorities answered with violence and the killing of their own citizens. Over just two nights in January, tens of thousands of protesters were killed. Several sources suggest the death toll may be as high as 40,000.
The regime’s brutal response has also sparked strong reactions beyond Iran’s borders. In recent weeks, Iranians in exile across the world have gathered in large demonstrations against the regime. Their message is clear: they want to remove the brutal regime that has ruled Iran for nearly 50 years.
At the same time, the situation in Iran has taken a dramatic turn. Many celebrated when the United States and Israel killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. But even though the head of state has been eliminated, the future remains uncertain.
Will the regime fall? And if it does, what will come next?
