Beady Belle is a boundary‑breaking Norwegian artist who operates in her own musical universe. You can’t put her into a single genre. She moves in the borderlands between pop/soul/funk/electronica/jazz/folk.
After taking part in close to thirty record releases, she is once again doing everything herself. Beady Belle writes, performs, arranges, produces, programs, and even makes her own music videos.
Beady Belle is internationally acclaimed, but has been almost a well‑kept secret in Norway, where she first became widely known and made her mark through Stjernekamp 2019.
Joining her in Sandnes are these musicians:
Beate S. Lech – vocals
Marius Reksjø – bass
Bjørn Sæther – drums
Torjus Vierli – keyboards
Agnes Andersen – backing vocals
Beady Belle, a.k.a. Beate S. Lech, started out as lead vocalist in the band Folk & Røvere in 1996, while studying at the Norwegian Academy of Music. Since then she has released a number of albums in collaboration with, among others, Bugge Wesseltoft, Jon Eberson, Adam Douglas, Joshua Redman, Jarle Bernhoft, Georg Riedel, SKRUK, etc.
A reviewer in Dagbladet rolled a high number on the dice and called her “Norway’s answer to Beyoncé.” She has toured large parts of the world since the early 2000s, and has collaborated with global stars such as Jamie Cullum, India.Arie, Dee Dee Bridgewater and many more.
This is refined neo‑soul, with the groove firmly rooted at the core of it all. And the crowning glory is Beady Belle’s velvety‑smooth voice, overflowing with power and presence.
Beady Belle released her eleventh studio album, Nothing But The Truth, in 2022, marking the 20th anniversary of her debut.
