The innovative musician and composer collective, "Det Annet Kjønn - Kollektiv", brings together 15 performers for a concert with music exclusively by female composers from the American jazz tradition. Here there will be great interpretations of both well-known and unknown songs arranged and performed by young jazz musicians with a background from the music community in Stavanger!
Det Annet Kjønn - Kollektiv (DAK) is a musician and composer collective with over 20 musicians, who work to promote female performers and composers connected to the jazz community in Stavanger. The collective is an inspiring and developing meeting place for performers who want to compose and arrange music for various types of ensembles within the collective. The most important thing for us is to have a safe musical community with room to experiment, where the performers dare to take new chances!
DAK has seasonal projects. In 2021 and 2022, the choice was free between composition, songwriting and arranging. Since the 2022/23 season, the audience has had the opportunity to hear rearranged music from, among others, Terri Lynn Carrington, Melissa Aldana, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Alice Coltrane, and many more! Here we emphasize our own interpretations with a current, modern and political expression.
