What role does geology play in our everyday lives? Join a sound walk and experience the brand new artwork How to Breathe Rock by the Icelandic artist Anna Rún Tryggvadóttir. The artwork was created for the new energy center at the University of Stavanger (UiS) and was produced by KORO - Art in public spaces.
How to Breathe Rock is a sound work that explores the relationship between us humans and the earth we stand on. The framework for the work is the new energy wells that have been drilled several hundred[1] [2] meters below the campus, where rock heat[3] [4] [5] [6] stored deep underground will reduce up to 60 percent of the energy consumption of campus area. The sound work is a meditation on the hidden but existential dependence we have on the geology around us.
Before the sound walk starts, Anna Rún Tryggvadottir will introduce the work together with the project's curator, Ida Højgaard Thjømøe.
Bring headphones and dress for the weather. Hot cocoa will be served!
