Flor is a young, explorative jazz band from Stavanger, brought forward by composer and bandleader Marie Kvale Vikingstad. When they enter Grottene at Folken on February 6th, they invite the audience into Vikingstad's own reflections on relationships, society, and the peculiar project known as growing up. Everything is set to music and performed in close collaboration with the band she describes as "beautiful", and she tends to be right.

The band's expression is characterized by circulating riffs, quiet and vulnerable melodies, and musical moments that are allowed to arise spontaneously. Electronic and acoustic sounds merge into an auditory landscape that wanders between floating rubato and pulsating rhythms.

At the end of September, Flor went into the studio to record their first EP, By Green, which will be released during 2026. The project draws inspiration from both nature and the human experiences that color the emotional life and the unrest of the times. Green is after all the color of spring, of grass, and of trees bending in the wind of the west coast, but also of envy, immaturity, and money.
