A bold and heartfelt film from Iranian master director Jafar Panahi
Two parallel love stories, one set in the big city and the other in a small village. In each story, the couples face a series of challenges tied to abuse of power, tradition, and superstition in Iranian society. Director Jafar Panahi himself is at the center of both narratives, as both filmmaker and observer.
Once again, Panahi shines by creating a playful, deeply human, and sharply critical film under almost impossible conditions, having been officially banned from working as a director by the Iranian authorities since 2010. Until recently, Panahi was imprisoned in the notorious Evin Prison in Tehran. He has now been released on bail.
