On 18 October, Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra and Kilden Vocal Ensemble bring four brilliant soloists to Stavanger and St. Petri Church. The stage is set for a magnificent concert with Mozart's Requiem and Håkon Berge's Candlelight on the programme. Among the soloists is one of the country's leading sopranos, Stavanger's own Eir Inderhaug.

Mozart's poignant and unreal beautiful Death Mass is one of the most mythical compositions in the history of music. He worked on the work from his sickbed, but died after sketching the movement Lacrimosa. The requiem was probably completed by his pupil Franz Süßmayr.

As a contrast to the evening's main work, we have ordered a Candlelight Mass by composer and conductor Håkon Berge, who also comes from Stavanger. While the death mass is a journey away from this world, the candle mass is a celebration of the beginning of life - in memory of the biblical story of the baby Jesus who was carried forward in the temple forty days after his birth (Luke 2.30).

Kilden Vocal Ensemble, Kilden's own professional choir, will contribute to both works.
