The research project Future Past, a project about archaeological skeletons and old churchyards in Rogaland, invites you to a mini‑conference to present the preliminary results. This is an international and interdisciplinary project that combines natural sciences and the humanities in research on biological material from archaeological excavations.

The focus is on what this can tell us about life in the past, and how we can best preserve it for future research. Methods from biology, chemistry and physics, geology, law, and environmental science are applied to samples of soil and skeletons to understand what affects preservation, and to date and reconstruct the history of individuals and populations, as well as past climate and landscapes.
