Fadder festival 2024: Practical information
For any questions, please send us a direct message on Instagram @uisfadder.
The Fadderfestival (Mentor festival) at the University in Stavanger takes place during the first week of the new semester. The festival aims to welcome new students to the University in Stavanger, and all other schools associated with SiS. The Fadderfestival aims to help them familiarize themselves with the campus and the city of Stavanger as a student town. Additionally, it seeks to facilitate the integration of new students with their peers, student organizations, and academic societies.
All ticket holders for the Fadderfestival have access to all events listed in the calendar, but some events have limited capacity and therefore require registration. A few activities also require a deposit of NOK 50 to cover transportation costs and to ensure attendance, namely surfing and the Pulpit Rock hike. The deposit will be refunded upon attendance. The deposit is to be transferred via Vipps to phone number +47 95 333 666 upon registration (Leiv Kåre Larsen, head of the Fadder board). For those who do not have Vipps, you may place your deposit directly to our board members at the Opportunity Hub (for surfing, both days), and at the Family Grill (for the Pulpit Rock Hike), between 1:00 and 2:00 PM (both days).
To gain entry to activities during the Fadderfestival, you must show your festival wristband. Some activities also require the Fadder T-shirt. We encourage you to wear these T-shirts as much as possible, as they not only show your affiliation—whether you are a fadder or a fadderbarn—but also because the Fadderfestival would not be possible without the sponsors featured on the T-shirts. We have a responsibility to ensure that our sponsors feel they are getting value for their sponsorship so they will continue to support us in the future!
Wristbands and T-shirts will be distributed on campus in front of the Akademika building (Kitty Kiellands Hus) on Monday, August 12th from 10:00 AM.
Registration for the activities opens at 10:00 AM the day before the event, and you can find the registration links by clicking on “Practical Information” below. All activities are free for those with a festival ticket, except for the Pub-Run. Registration for all Pub-Runs opens on Monday, August 12 at 1:00 PM and has a separate link (Billetto). The Pub-Run costs NOK 50 and has limited capacity, so be sure to book before it fills up!
Registration for all other events is free and opens at 10:00 AM the day before the event starts. You can register for your desired event here. All activities occurring in the festival area (the Mentor Village) have unlimited capacity and do not require registration.

Report System:The board wants to be informed about all unwanted incidents, errors, and deficiencies. The Fadder Board relies on being informed about occurrences so that we can address them and improve safety. If you do not feel comfortable reporting to someone around you or are unsure who to report to, you can submit it here: Report It.
In case of an emergency, we want you to report it as soon as possible, but always contact the emergency services first in life-threatening/urgent situations.
Fadder and Fadder Leader
The fadders (mentors) are your closest leaders, there to support you if something happens and to be available to you during the festival. The fadder leaders have overall responsibility for the fadders. If there is something you do not feel comfortable discussing with your fadder, you can contact your fadder leader or use the “Report It” system. The board would like to be informed if something happens, so use the “Report It” system for notifications or for help/support.
Fadder Patrol
The fadder Patrol is a form of night watch during the Fadderfestival, ensuring your safety. They can help you find your way home and assist with minor injuries. If you need help with any of these, you can call +47 476939736. They also provide water and food in the city center and are generally visible during the festival in orange vests. Do not hesitate to chat with them when you see them!
The Safe Side
Here is a dedicated page developed for students, among others, which you can use if something happens: Safe Side. Examples include first aid, fire situations, and violence and threats.
